
CERNIGA JOHN JOCKO Age 95, of Penn Hills, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Jocko was born May 29, 1920, and was the son of the late John and Mary Merges Cerniga. He was the loving husband of the late Irmgard Bading Cerniga. He was a WWII veteran and was employed at National Tube in McKeesport until he retired. He is survived by his son, Ralph (Cindy) Cerniga of Penn Hills; daughter, Monika (Bart) Ryan of Plum Borough; sister, Margaret Behunek of White Oak; and cherished dog, Mira. Also special friend who was like a daughter, Diane (Michael) Frazier; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, Stephen and Michael. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Heartland Hospice, especially Robin Shields and Lyndsay Mott who cared for Jocko during his illness with total compassion and kindness. Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, at St. Angela Merici Church with Fr. Kevin Dominik officiating.
