
BURNS JAMES D. DIZ, Sr. Of Avella, passed away after a brief illness on December 21, 2015, with his family by his side. He was born on June 17, 1939, a son of Daniel and Helen Figley Burns. Mr. Burns was a lifelong resident of Western Pennsylvania and, in addition to his service in the USMC, was a well-known hospitality proprietor, as well as member of International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 154. He was also an active member of the Atlasburg VFW Post 6490. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Kathy (Ford) Burns; two daughters, Jami (Burns) Colliers and Jodi Burns-Ward and her husband, Charles of Avella; a son, James Burns, Jr. of Moon Township; he was the loving grandfather of four grandchildren, Jessica, Jina, Janson and Steven; two great- grandchildren, John and Jarrod; a brother, William Burns and wife, Jeanne of Phoenix, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his brother, Robert Burns; sister, June (Burns) Argenta; and grandson, Johnathan Camp. To honor Mr. Burns' wishes, there will be no public visitation and a memorial service will be held in the spring.
