JOHNSTON THOMAS ALLEN, Jr. Age 92, formerly of Mt. Lebanon, passed away in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born in Macon, GA to T. Allen Johnston and Frances Marian (Driggars) Johnston. Allen was the beloved husband for more than 64 years of Margaret (Hyman) Johnston; loving father of Melissa (the late William) Kruse, Olivia (Peter Fenlon) Johnston and Marian (John) Wilson; grandfather of Emily and Matthew Wilson. He was predeceased in death by his brother, Frank Marion Johnston, M.D. Allen was graduated from Lanier High School for Boys in Macon and attended GA Tech for three years before enlisting in the Army Air Corps. He served with the 13th Airborne Division in WW II in France before reenrolling at GA Tech. He earned a degree in Industrial Mgmt. and began his career with ALCOA, retiring as a market analyst. He then consulted for Westinghouse Corp., volunteered at the Small Business Administration and later joined Marketing Services Associates. Allen and family lived in Pittsburgh for 30 years where he was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, the American Marketing Assoc. and the Syria Shrine. In 1988 he and his wife moved to Dalton, NC. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, American Legion and a 60-year member of the Freemasons. His memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Salemtowne Retirement Community, Winston-Salem, NC.
