EVANS WILLIAM R. On Saturday, February 20, 2016, age 88, of Rosslyn Farms. Born January 12, 1928, to the late Daniel Howell Evans and Nettie Herbert Evans in Pittsburgh at the Old Allegheny General Hospital. Brother of the late Richard H. Evans of Bogota, Columbia, SA. Survived by two nephews, Michael Robert Evans of New York and Richard Daniel Evans of Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Evans lived in Crafton for 27 years and graduated from the old Crafton High School in 1945 and moved to Rosslyn Farms in 1955 and was a resident there until his death, having served 19 years on the Rosslyn Farms Borough Council. After attending and graduating in 1950 from Carnegie Institute of Technology, Mr. Evans served two years in the Army Corps of Engineers working in the Corps of Engineers Research and Development Laboratory as an architect. After military service he returned to Pittsburgh to work for PPG in several capacities of which the conception and development of PPG Place was the ultimate achievement of his career there. Mr. Evans retired from PPG upon completion of that project in 1986 but continued to work at Gateway Center as a consultant for design of tenant offices for another 12 years before fully retiring in 1997.
