HUGH P. BOYLE Age 89, a resident of Providence Point, formerly of Upper St. Clair, "kicked the bucket" on his terms on Saturday, February 1, 2020. Huey is the cherished husband of Eileen (Waldron) Boyle of 46 years. He is the son of the late Patrick J. and Mary Agnes Boyle; also preceded in death by siblings, Anna May Joyce of Sagle, ID, Sarah "Sally" Stout of Mt. Lebanon, Eleanor P. Boyle of Mt. Lebanon, John J. Boyle of Chippewa, and Michael V. Boyle of Mt. Lebanon. He is the loving "Uncle Huey" to three generations of 61 nieces and nephews. Hugh served in the U.S. Army from January 1952 to January 1954. For 35 years, he was employed by J&L-LTV Steel, after which he was employed at the VA Medical Center for ten years. Eileen would like to thank the nurses and staff at Providence Point and Three Rivers Hospice for their kindness and loving care. THOMAS P. FORD, JR. Age 37, died suddenly on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020. Tom was from Etna, Pennsylvania and couldn't be prouder, if you couldn't hear him he'd shout a little louder. Tom touched every person that had the privilege to know him and there were many, from being a wrestler throughout his whole childhood into graduation, to becoming an entrepreneur before the age of 20. His success and work ethic was so admirable. He helped everyone he ever possibly could, even people he didn't know. His smirk, laugh, smile that could brighten anyone's day, and lasting love for everyone will forever be remembered. Tom is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Margaret Ford; uncles, Dave, Ray, Jim and Billy; and his beloved cousin/best friend, Martin Sieber. Tom is survived by his devoted and loving mother and father, Thomas and Michele Ford; brothers, Joe (Megan), Mike (Sara); and his sister, Alisha (Dylan) Kishur; and seven nieces and nephews who adored him more than anything, Briana, Noah, Skylar, Blake, Henry, Charlie, and Isabella. He was also survived by his maternal grandparents, John and Carolyn Buckley, along with many aunts and uncles and way too many cousins to list that were more like siblings to him. VINCENT S. FIANO Age 92, of Forest Hills, quietly passed away at his home surrounded by family on Monday, February 3, 2020. Vince is survived by Carol Ann (Toler), his beloved wife of 56 years. Loving father of three children: Vincent G. (Pamela Miller), Elizabeth Savka (Mark), and Christina Cervi (Gary). Treasured grandfather of seven grandchildren: Alexandra, Jonathan, Nicholas, Justin, Gabrielle, Catherine, and Elena. Also survived by brother Nick Fiano (late Helen) and sister Lucy Perrino (late Jerry). Dear uncle of nieces Lucille Reynolds, Elvira McDermott, Joanne Brean (Mark), Elvira Spizak (Jan), Annie Perrino, Maureen Perrino, and Stephanie Shockey (Bob), and nephews Tony Gerace, Marty Perrino, John Fiano, and James Fiano. Loving brother of the late Rose Gerace (late Fred), late Mary Bryant (late Merle), late Josephine Meskowski (late Chester) and late John Fiano (late Irene). Also survived by many cousins in the tri-state area. Vince was born on May 18, 1927, in Swissvale. He was the youngest of seven children born to Gabriel and Elvira Fiano who came to America from Italy just after 1900. Vince attended Swissvale High School where he was a member of the varsity basketball team. Vince joined the Navy to serve in WWII in 1945 immediately following high school graduation. Upon completing his service, Vince enrolled in night school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Engineering. He also started his professional career in 1948 as a draftsman for Westinghouse and later for United Engineering. Vince began his 44-year career with PPG Industries in August 1952 in Glass Engineering. He continued night school while working and earned his engineering degree in 1957. In 1960 he received his Professional Engineer's license. At that time, PPG headquarters was located in Gateway Center. It was there that Vince met Carol in late 1962. She worked for Anaconda Wire & Cable Co. also located in Gateway Center. They had the good fortune of seeing each other every day at the coffee station and soon began dating. They were married on November 30, 1963. Vince made significant contributions to PPG throughout his career. He played a key role in PPG's conversion to the float process by helping to design and develop the mechanical services needed to support the facilities. He retired in February 1997 with the title of Chief Mechanical Services Engineer. In retirement, Vince always enjoyed spending family vacations with his children and grandchildren in Wildwood Crest, NJ, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Clearwater Beach, FL. He also golfed frequently with family and friends well into his 80s. He especially enjoyed attending their many sports functions and performances in plays and musicals. All of our family celebrations brought great happiness to Vince and he looked forward to each and every one. Vince was a long time active parishioner of St. Maurice Catholic Church and had a special devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows. A selfless man who devoted his life to his family, Vince's memory will forever live in the hearts of all the lives he influenced. CHARLES "CHICK" W. SCHWER, JR. Age 72, of North Versailles, passed away February 2, 2020. He was born April 22, 1947, in Charleroi, a son of the late Charles (Genevieve) Schwer, Sr. He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Wilmerding and owned many businesses in the past, including the North Versailles Nursery. He is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Diane Schwer; sons, Charles (Cheryl) Schwer III of Westmoreland City and Thomas (Cyndi) Schwer of East McKeesport; grandchildren, Nina, Charles, Jacob and Maxwell Schwer; brothers Jack (Barbara) Schwer, Timothy Schwer and Patrick (Kathleen) Schwer; and nieces and nephews. GAYLE T. PYKUS LUST Ae 83, of West Sunbury, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 2, 2020, at Allegheny General Hospital. Born March 18, 1936, in Jacksonville, AL, she was the daughter of the late Howard Trammell and Pauline Dear Trammell. Gayle was a member of the Crossfire Campus of the Butler First Church. Gayle will be remembered as a caring and giving soul who would do anything for anyone. Everyone was her friend; she didn't know a stranger. She had a great sense of humor and a wonderful personality. She would spend two days a week at the Slippery Senior Center enjoying conversation and laughs with her friends, especially Wanda. She enjoyed being in the outdoors, feeding and watching the deer and wildlife. Gayle also loved spending time in her garden. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. Gayle leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Gregg Pykus, Gary Pykus and his wife, Patty Kurta, of Monaca, Bethany Pykus Sprock and her husband, Gerard, of McKees Rocks, and Alicia Pykus and her husband, Dave Walls, of West Sunbury; her grandchildren, Jennifer Sprock Palguta and her husband, Paul, Christopher Sprock and his wife, Jaye, Andy Walls, Seth Walls, Samantha Pykus Barnes and her husband, Cory, and Taylor Pykus; her great-grandchildren, Luke and Mila Palguta, Lily and Sydney Sprock, and Cole Barnes; her sister, Ann Riley of Jacksonville, AL, and numerous nieces and nephews. EDWARD J. I. GANNON, JR. Age 89, of Pittsburgh, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2020, following a short illness. Ed is survived by his sons, Edward III (Lisa) and Christopher (Sharon); his grandchildren, Kristina, Maksim, Isabelle and Jack; brother-in-law, John Burns; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mary Jane (Burns); and his sisters, Mary Madelyn Castner and Dr. Jeanne Alvin. A graduate of Central Catholic High School, Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh, School of Law, Ed practiced law for more than 50 years as a member of Hazlett, Gannon & Jacobs. More recently, Ed served on the Wilkins Township zoning board. NITA RYAN Age 90, of Lawrenceville, on Feb. 3, 2020. Beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Ryan, Sr.; loving mother of Joseph F., Jr. (Janice) Ryan and the late Jacqueline Ryan; grandmother of Jacqueline (Kevin) Trapani and Jessica Ryan; great- grandmother of A.J., Gia and Gabriella Trapani; sister of the late Vinci Muto, Helen Settlemire, Albert, Guy and Ralph Muto and Sylvia Stubenbort; daughter of the late Pasquale and Genevieve Ryan. ESTHER M. DRUDY Age 95, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA and Racine, WI. Passed away February 1, 2020, at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center, Narvon, PA. Born in Racine, WI, she was the daughter of the late Frank And Dominica (Jannuzzi) Cariello. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; daughter, Susan; and son, John; brothers, Joe, Nick; and sister, Mary Knautz. Surviving are four children: Kathleen Stasik of Murrells Inlet, SC, Charles Drudy, Jr. of Troy, AL, Thomas Drudy of Racine, Wl, and Patrick Drudy of Pittsburgh, PA; and brother, Rudy Cariello of Racine, WI. Her life was also filled with 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Esther was a strong willed woman, a loving mother and grandmother, and friend to many that knew her. Her absence will be missed but her spirit will live within all forever.
