Son of the late Regis and Marion Fralic; beloved husband of Dorothy Fralic; loving father of Michael (Heide) Fralic of Chicago, IL, Joe (Theresa) Fralic of Huntington, WV and Bill (Susan) Fralic of Atlanta, GA; brother of John (Barb) Fralic of FL. Survived by his grandchildren, Nathan, Lucas and Nick Fralic and Christy (Nathan) Olson. Also survived by his great-grandchildren, Ema and Ava Olson. Mr. Fralic worked at Edgewater Steel in Oakmont for 32 years. He was a Marine and a veteran of the Korean War where he received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. WARD KAREN LORETTA Age 61, of Naples, FL passed away on May 29, 2016, from complications due to pulmonary hypertension. Born in Pittsburgh, PA she was preceded in death by her parents, William A. Werwie and Ann Aber Werwie. She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert; and loving son, Ryan Ward (Denver, CO); sisters, Nancy DiMaggio (Fort Mill, SC), and Catherine Zanella (Pittsburgh, PA); brother, William Werwie, Jr. (Pittsburgh, PA); sister-in-law, Janet Evelhoch (Waldorf, MD); stepmother, Mary Lou Werwie (Pittsburgh, PA); and many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her. Karen graduated from Bishop Canevin HS as Valedictorian. She earned a B.S. degree in Medical Technology from the Pennsylvania State University. Working in a clinical program at Pittsburgh's Allegheny General Hospital, she earned a MT ASCP certification working in the Chemistry Department. She married and moved to Houston working in special chemistry, toxicology, and immunology at a Houston hospital while becoming the Laboratory Supervisor. After her son was born, Karen became a school volunteer to create books in a Math Superstars program, was a teacher's aide, Team Mom for soccer, baseball, and football, a band booster, active in Cub Scouts, and taught second grade CCD. Her interests included reading, crafts, swimming, and travel. During those years, she lived in Houston, Miami, Dallas, Fairfax, VA, and retired in Naples, FL. She will be remembered for her beautiful eyes and lovely smile. MACHI MARIO Of Hilton Head Island, died peacefully at his home on May 27, 2016, at the age of 67. Mario is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ruby Machi; three children, Dustin (Lisa) Machi of Blacksburg, VA, Katie Eure of Pfafftown, NC, and Mario (Nicole) Machi of Ardmore, PA; and six grandchildren, Lucas, Roman, and Leo Machi, Jenny, Reagan, and Brinkley Eure; siblings, Tony (Patsy) Machi of Pittsburgh, PA, and Mike (Charlotte) Machi of Pleasanton, CA; sisters-in-law, Dottie (Joe) Woods and Bobbie Carbaugh, all of Bluffton; and brother-in-law, Bob (Kathy) Ratliff of Acworth, GA; along with countless other close friends and relatives whose lives he positively impacted every day. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mario and Antoinette Machi; and his brother, Frank Machi, all of Pittsburgh. Mario was born on July 26, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from South Hills Catholic High School in 1966 and St. Francis University in 1970. He worked for the Social Security Administration in several cities for 25 years before retiring and starting his own consulting business, Machi and Associates, and more importantly, taking on his favorite role, that of Grandpa to his six grandchildren. Mario was an active member of his communities in Wytheville, VA, where the family lived for 25 years, and in Hilton Head where he volunteered with organizations like Hospice Care of the Low Country and Safe Harbour. In addition to his community activities, everyone who knew him knows he was always the first person to go to if you were interested in buying a new (or used!) car because car shopping was one of his favorite hobbies, and he bought and sold more cars in his lifetime than anyone else you know. He also enjoyed listening to his favorite music as well as following his beloved Pittsburgh Pirates. GO BUCS! The family will be having a private burial. All are welcome to attend a celebration of Mario's life Saturday, June 4, 2016, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Mario and Ruby's home at 145 Club Course Drive in Hilton Head. FOWLER KATHLEEN DEVLIN Died at her home at Shady Ave., Pittsburgh, on May 27, 2016. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Alan B. Fowler; her sons, Stephen of Seven Fields and Andrew of LaVarenne, France; her daughters, Susan Fowler-Finn of Medford, MA and Sarah of Northampton, MA and Cologne, Germany; and by ten grandchildren. She was preceded by six half-siblings. Besides her family, she leaves many loving friends in Newport, New York and the Pittsburgh area. Kay was born in Newport, RI on January 12, 1928, of Irish immigrant parents, John and Catherine Devlin. She attended RI State (now URI) and held degrees from Pace College and Western Connecticut. Most of her life was lived in Yorktown Hts., NY where her husband was employed by IBM. For many years she volunteered teaching ESL at local institutions. She was an active quilter both in NY and after moving to Pittsburgh in 2005. She was also a member of the walking group, The Ramblers where she met many friends. She may be remembered by many as the little white haired lady who witnessed for peace every Saturday for years at the corner of Braddock and Forbes. Arrangements McCABE BROS. BROWN FRANK ANTHONY On Monday, May 30, 2016, age 42, of Hopewell Twp. Father of Braedan Michael, Kieli Nicole and Samuel Christopher; son of Noel and August Falbo and the late Joseph Brown; brother of Justin (Debbi) Brown, Lisa (Randy) Riddle, Christopher (Jamie) Falbo and the late Nicole Marie Falbo; dearly loved by Frank Puharic, Mickalina and Mariangella; survived by nieces, nephews and countless lifelong friends. Frank was a 1991 graduate of Montour High School where he played football, a 1997 graduate of IUP where he earned his BA in journalism. He went on to the US Army serving five years as a Sergeant. He was one of three soldiers of a field of 1,200 to earn the Physical Fitness Medal. Frank was editor of the Fort Lewis Newspaper and published several articles in Soldier Magazine and Stars and Stripes. He was honorably discharged from the army in 2002. He joined US Airways and later worked for the Army Corps of Engineers. Frank was an epic sports fan, loving all things Pittsburgh, especially our teams. He was a great cook, an avid reader, loved music, his pets, his friends and above all his family. He was known for his heart, his humor and that he was a true friend to all. Born July 12, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Julia Vicenec Yanik and was also preceded in death by siblings, Mary Cundra, Joseph, Frank, John, Steve, Albert, Benjamin and William Yanik. She is survived by her sister, Helen, with whom she resided; and nieces and nephews. Stella was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton and was retired from U.S. Steel, Clairton Works.
