Beloved father of Kimberly Francis; stepfather of Carrie Howard; grandfather of Helen, Roger and Dehnad "Danny" Francis; step-grandfather of Ashley (Robert) Nebel; adored husband to the late Linda. Danny was an avid lover of animals and a successful business owner of Saddlebrook Stables, Jefferson Hills Motel and the famous Someplace Else, voted the #1 Rock N Roll bar of its time and a host to many great bands. BERES JOHN PAUL Age 87, passed peacefully on Thursday, June 2, 2016. John gave his all to be a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed by his beloved Dorothy, wife of 66 years; his five children, John (Helen), Launie (Don) Trevisani, Jeffrey (Carol Ann), Joel (Mary) and Christopher (Shelly); his ten grandchildren; and all of his friends and extended family. John served in World War II as a Sergeant in the Army Air Force in the Philippines and Okinawa. Born in Webster, PA, longtime resident of Rostraver Twp., and wintering in Clearwater, FL, John lived out his final years with his wife under the compassionate care of the staff at Oakleaf Personal Care Home. WILLOUGHBY HELEN MARIE (SHAFFER) Mrs. Helen Marie (Shaffer) Willoughby of Sewickley, PA, beloved wife of Robert, passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford, PA on May 27, 2016, at the age of 88. Helen is survived by her children, Richard Willoughby (wife Linda) of Honolulu, HI, Robin Willoughby Gooch (husband David) of Chagrin Falls, OH, and Dr. Ross Willoughby (wife Mary Ellen) of Fox Chapel, PA. She had six grandchildren, Christen, Robert, Erin, Eric, Ian and Mathi who adored her; and four great-grandchildren, Lilly, Violet, Christian and Cora who lovingly knew her as GiGi. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert Willoughby; her parents, Carrie Snyder Shaffer and Clark Christian Shaffer; and her siblings, Howard, James, Jean and Lorraine. Her surviving sisters, Lucy (husband Richard) States and Ruthie (husband James) Ridge will miss her dearly. Helen was born on December 18, 1927, in Dry Ridge, PA to Carrie and Clark Shaffer. She graduated from Punxsutawney High School and moved to Pittsburgh to further her education. She married Robert Willoughby, the love of her life, June 12, 1948. Over the years, the couple welcomed three children into their home and Helen became a full time stay at home mother. After providing opportunities for all of her children to attend college, Helen became an Account Manager at Advertising Distributors of America, the company her husband founded and served as President. Later in life, Helen helped her son Ross with his company Global View Publishing as a Fulfillment Manager. Her children remember her as a kind, driven, loving mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals and dreams in life. Her grandchildren will remember her for wonderful cooking, a big heart, and never forgetting a birthday! Helen was an accomplished artist and enjoyed yearly outings to Cooks Forest National Park with her sisters to paint and play cards. She was dedicated to her family, faith, and country. Our family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support in many heartfelt forms. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memories become a treasure, and Helen left her family with immeasurable (priceless?) treasures. MEKOVSKY EDRIE REGINA Age 75, of Washington, PA, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, May 29, 2016. Edrie was born on July 7, 1940, to the late Regina and John Appel. Cherished wife of 47 years to the late Frank J. Mekovsky; beloved mother of David (Janice), Jennifer (Bryan) Trottier and Lisa Mekovsky; loving grandmother of Alexander and Christian; dear sister of John Martin Appel and Ruth Ann Nessley. Edrie was preceded in death by her brother, George Dennis Appel. Edrie was a ray of sunshine and a true friend. She brightened everyone's lives she came in contact with. She was a beloved mother, loving sister and a doting grandmother. Edrie, a beautiful lady with a quick smile, an open door and enough hospitality to welcome an army. She couldn't even think mean thoughts and saw the best side of every situation. She held her family nearest to her heart, friends felt as loved, we all felt like we were her favorite, like we were her #1 love and she was our #1 fan. Edrie was a keen listener with gentle advice meant to heal and inspire. She was a teacher, but example mostly, but also with a caring and spirited voice. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. BAILEY MARY MADELINE (DESKO) Formerly of Coraopolis and Moon Township, made the final trip home to heaven on May 20, 2016, in her final hometown of Greensboro, NC. She was born April 5, 1915, in Gallitzin, PA to the late Joseph and Mary Desko. Preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Jack Bailey; daughter, Dorothy Bailey; son, Robert Bailey; brothers, Joseph Desko, George Desko, and Michael Desko. She is survived by her loving brother, John Desko of Sun City, Florida; grandchildren, Kim Villanti (Steve) of Bristol, CT, Rick Spenski (Amy) of Greensboro, NC; nephews, George Desko (Janet) of Latrobe, PA, Michael Desko (Janet) of Pittsburgh; nieces, Janet Kaczmarek (Ronald) of Pittsburgh, Margaret Hummer, Inverness, FL. Madeline owned and proudly operated Bailey's, a family style restaurant which was the home of many great meals, weddings and events, on Flagherty Run Road in Moon Township for over 30 years with her late husband, Jack, attended St. Mary Margaret Catholic Church while residing in Moon Township. An intimate family celebration of life will be held in Madeline's honor at her final resting place in the Sylvania Hills Cemetery in Rochester, PA at a date to be determined by the family. Beloved husband of Marie (Diana) Scandinaro for 68 years; loving father of Mary Ann (Bob) Rittmeyer of Greentree, Don Scandinaro of Monroeville and Karen (Len Schockling) Zezza of Swissvale; grandfather of David (Lonna) Baacke, Joe (Jen) Zezza, Erica (Aaron) Gilligan and Dominic (Jackie) Scandinaro; great- grandfather of Joey Zezza; brother of Ann (late Tom) Soltis of North Braddock. He was born June 30, 1929, in McKeesport the son of the late Robert and Emma (Miller) Forsyth. He was a member of Corpus Christi Parish formally with St. Pius, in McKeesport. He was a retired printer/bindery worker at Day and Night Press. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. Paul is survived by his wife, Mary Patricia "Pat" (Barchie) Forsyth; three daughters, Susan Forsyth, Patricia (Jim) Walk and Janet Amato; he is also survived by four sons, Paul (Mary Paul), John (Eugene Alcala), Tom (Shirley) and Jim (Valerie) Forsyth; a sister, Norma (Al) Kruczek; grandchildren, great- grandchildren.
